Adding and Replacing Phones in Mixed Deployments - Converting Configuration Files from 1.x to 3.x
Last Updated 2 years ago

Converting 1.x Configuration files to new 3.x Configuration Files

Please be aware that there are differences between Cetis SIP phones shipped before February 2018 and thereafter. If you are receiving phones after February 2018, they are almost certainly 3.x generation phones, and you will need to treat them differently from the original 1.x phones (having shipped from 2008-2018).

You can determine what phone you have by looking at the Series number label on the bottom of the phone or by checking the firmware with **39#. Series numbers beginning with LDxxxxxx are older firmware (1.x phones), and Series numbers beginning with ZXxxxxxx are the new phones with firmware 3.x.

For properties who have a streamlined config file download process, and primarily purchase replacement phones, converting your old files (3300IP.txt) to newer (cetis.cfg) has gotten much easier by using the new config file conversion tool:

o Gather up your existing 1.x config files that are of name.type .3300IP.txt.

o Have a network administrator available at the time of the installation (in order to gather the old 1.x configuration files and put the new converted 3.x files on the provisioning server).

o Install the Cetis Converter program on a computer that has access to the Internet, so that it may refresh its value-substitution map. (There is an Apple Mac version for OSX and a 64-bit Windows version available)

o Open the tool and select the folder with your original files. The tool will create a subfolder (3GenConfigs) and create the new files .cetis.cfg at the rate of about 1 per second.

o Place the new 3.x files together with the old 1.x files all in the same reachable folder of the provisioning/tftp server.

o As new phones are placed in-room, powered up and boot, they will prompt for a ConfigID. Each phone type will accept only the filetype they need, and will not accept the filetype they can’t use.

o If needed, send questions to sipsupport@cetis.com
